Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) is a stark reality worldwide. The problems used to be greater than they are now, but CSA is still a problem. CSA is associated with missing children and child trafficking. Men and women involved in trafficking children do so for many reasons, including filling orders by politicians and wealthy men and women who indulge themselves with trafficked children.

During the sexual revolution, (CSA) was perpetrated by males in poor, inner-city areas, middle class neighborhoods, the upscale homes of male politicians, bathrooms, cars, attics, and workplace and even in universities. CSM resulted in harm to millions of children, boys and girls alike from infancy to their college years, in large and small communities, and across a range of cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. These acts were perpetrated by men mostly who were similarly abused. Records show the most common CSM offense to be a domestic as well as a regular crime committed inside various settings.

CSA encompasses many types of sexually abusive acts toward children, including sexual assault, rape, incest, and the commercial sexual exploitation of children. Although there are some differences among these, the unifying term of “child sexual abuse” is used throughout to describe commonalities across these experiences. There are many definitions of CSA in use, each of which may have subtle differences in coverage or terminology that influence surveillance and reporting efforts, and potentially lead to different policy, service, or legal implications.

CSA is a problem complicated by cultural mores and values in every country, and often defies myths and stereotypes . There are information conspiracies of CSA, which add to the challenges of measurement, assessment, and treatment. It is clear that CSA is associated with the risk of negative psychosocial and health outcomes, but processes of resilience have also identified several protective factors such as natural rejection of the abuse by the child. Other protective factors are family support, parent-child relationships, social support that could be strengthened through prevention and early intervention efforts. However, if the child is raised up in environment where abuse is normal, their vision of how the world works might not be the same as a child raised in a healthy environment. Miracles do happen and there are kids who reject their abusive environments but often end running away and sometimes end up in worse environments with worse kinds of people.

Several therapies have been shown to be efficacious in treating the psychological injury of CSA.⁵⁸ The results of treatment studies are encouraging and suggest that a wide range of symptoms can be decreased, such as individual symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and behavioral problems. Taking the victim out of their CSA environment is usually the best way to treat them. When CSA is part of family life this naturally factors out the family as a therapeutic source and if possible everyone should be encourage to support the victim(s) though family group therapy.
