MMXII May, 15, 2022 Hiero: Psychology 105:  A World in Transition: Directive Development: A guide for parenting:   Psychology is still in its infancy.  We barely have developmental paradigms and nothing to respond to the fact that they are not established on empirical data. They were good studies, but they were not empirical.  What we do have is strong educational values which is a way of helping to develop a child and which are not subject to much change.

In looking at child developmental paradigms we still must ask ourselves, is it even wise to observe, with limited information, any collection of children and make universal declarations that these are the stages of a child’s development?  Educators, the first and most important psychologists feel children need to be shaped and formed. This why we have preschool, kindergarten, elementary, junior high school, high school or prep, college and university.

For parents we thought we might introduce and suggest a paradigm that eliminates the problems posed by some parenting styles.  If a parent was raised to be sexual, liberal and passive, a parenting paradigm will help them to apply a different style so they do not transfer their upbringing on to a child. This will go towards helping the child have a better childhood than they might have had and we begin to eliminate problems that are compounded in humans by generational conditioning.  In general conditioning, a parent who might have loose morals has  the risk of passing them on to the child.  The sexual psychology involved in child abuse may cause the child to be worse than their parent.  This is compounded by the presence of pharmacology factors such as alcohol and drug abuse.  If there is no drinking or drug abuse in the home, parents must be aware of the problems that can arise in schools starting as early as junior high where their child’s friends may have been introduced to drugs or alcohol and other kids who were not raised properly.    Thus a good strong upbringing in the home, will go a long way towards helping the child.  The parent can rely on government and the educational system to do its part.

At first, Directive Developmental Psychology looks likes like the stages in a development paradigm. Directive Developmental Psychology is a standard home education which says, this is a universal model which can be applied to all children and which will guide their development.  When educators and doctors did this long ago preschool, kindergarten models  were made and schools given their curriculums.  Now we suggest that parents apply a safe and universal paradigm in the home regardless of how they were raised.

In education, teachers are aware of the possibilities that may happen when children are not in their care and social workers ready to step in when a teacher suspects a problem. This has been our system in the United States of America and in some other countries for quite some time. It is no secret that millions of children worldwide have been physically, emotionally and even sexually abused, those who have not disappeared. In the United States and other countries we have an army of social workers, lawyers, judges and children’s homes ready to deal with cases of child abuse.  Some countries have taken child rearing very seriously.  Terrorists work to undo this. That said let me forward a guide for parents that correlates with the mindset of when their child goes to school.

Let us look at some guidelines for parenting.

Stage 1

Ages 1-7: Love, nurturing and unconditional acceptance. During this stage we encourage the child participate with their parents in common household chores.  Doing chores, keeping their rooms clean and learning to make meals, such as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich works toward helping a child learn to care for themselves and be responsible which is very important.   During the first stage (1-7 years) we encourage the child  to get lots of exercise and creative learning.  In the first stage a child can learn many things such as how to swim, how to work with numbers and letters. How to read.  How to play team sports.  If a solid educational framework exists in their country, we encourage the parent to take time to speak with the child’s teacher at every level of their education and see what their child does at school and find similar ways to stimulate their child’s life at home.

Ages 7-13: Love, nurturing and unconditional acceptance and encouraging the practice of love, nurturing and unconditional acceptance in the child.  This will help the child to be a better human and not a racist.

In this stage children are introduce to abstract thinking and more math, science and learning.    A nice compliment to a child’s development are clubs, athletic teams, arts, chorus, scouting, lots of exercise and creative learning.  Just so parents know between the ages of Ages 7-13 children have a natural interest in children of the opposite sex if no confusion has set in from improper parenting or exposure to abusive relatives or children who are abusive.  Towards the end of the this stage in a typical American setting, a child will have experienced their first social gathering such as a formal dance held at their school.  Their classes, clubs and groups at school and church will have prepared them to have socially healthy outlooks and be able to successfully participate in a school dance and other positive social activities and gatherings.

Ages 14-18: love, nurturing and unconditional acceptance and encouraging the practice of love, nurturing and unconditional acceptance will by now have produced stronger roots inside your child.  Being around and working with others who are different from them will not be an issue of conflict.

By this stage parents get a chance to rest and trust that their child is going to be a responsible mature adult and give them some independence knowing that they have done a good job in their upbringing. Between the ages of Ages 14-18 children now take interest in driving cars, going on dates.  Balancing social life, with education and their hobbies of choice, sports, the arts, cheerleading, clubs and groups.

Lastly if a parent is unable to mentor their child with a good religious and positive outlook about God or if the parent was not raised in a home where God is taught about, the parent can trust their local Sunday school and weekly study groups and may even decide to accompany their child and learn themselves. It is important also to be aware of cults and esoteric teaching which can lead to aggression, white supremacy, atheism and drug and alcohol abuse.

A nation of healthy children who believe in God and good values goes along way in keeping a country stable and running at its best.
